The Lust List: Summer Edition

It’s been a hot minute since I’ve done a “lust list;” and, the weather is finally starting to feel consistently warmer and sunnier! So, for this week’s blog post, I thought I’d write a summer edition of the “lust list!”

Also, I recently discovered the platform Rêve En Vert, which is a platform for luxury sustainable living. Its ethos revolves around three central pillars: environment, social and economic. On the environmental level, it aims to curate and support designers “…challenging themselves to be the best possible versions of themselves when it comes to production and ingenuity” (“Environment,” 2021, para. 1). On the social level, it acknowledges that “it would be impossible to separate conscious design from conscious production, and that is where the human impact and consideration for all people comes into [their] consideration” (“Social,” 2021, para. 1). On the economic level, it aims to support primarily independent designers who maintain full supply chain transparency. Rêve En Vert is not only a retail platform, but also an editorial space and online community.

This “lust list” features items exclusively found via Rêve En Vert.

1. Hamaji Studio - Jade Overalls in Bone Linen (Made to Order)

Founded by Louise Neoma Sommerlatte in 2017, Hamaji is based out of Kenya. Its collections focus on supporting local artisan families and women empowerment in rural Kenya. I absolutely love these everyday, 100% linen dungarees. The tie straps are so cute on their own or with a shirt paired underneath them.

2. OCIN - The Cross Back One-Piece in Sunset

OCIN is an eco-swimwear company that uses 100% recycled polyesters from plastic bottles saved from landfills and recycled nylon to make their swimwear. It also “works with global social initiatives to clean up and then recycle discarded fishing nets from the oceans, together with other discarded nylons, and turn them into high quality 100% regenerated and 100% regenerable Nylon” (“OCIN,” 2021, para. 1). This one-piece is ultra flattering with high thigh cuts to elongate the legs and an exposed back. It’s the perfect piece for summer swimming!

3. Hamaji Studio - Sol Shorts & Sol Top in Cotton Jacquard (Made to Order)

I absolutely love a matching set; and, this Sol set from Hamaji Studio is absolutely amazing. The set is made of organic cotton and hand-stitched by seamstresses on the foot hills of Mt. Kenya. I love the contrast of the high-waisted, longer length short paired with the low-cut, peplum top. The perfect summer set!

4. Paradise Row - The Love Bag

Okay, is this bag not the cutest thing ever?! Based in London, Nika Diamond-Krendel founded Paradise Row “after learning about the decline of leather workshops in East London due to British brands outsourcing their manufacturing abroad” (“Paradise Row,” 2021, para. 1). It is now one of only a few British brands to manufacture its products in London. Paradise Row sources leather as ethically as possible and its bags are made to last a lifetime.

As consumers, it’s our job to consume as ethically and consciously as possible. With the help of platforms like Rêve En Vert, it is so easy to find stylish, luxury goods that are consciously curated to leave as little of an impact on the environment as possible.

Happy summer shopping, everyone!

Bye for now,

McGee
